Shoppers visiting Tesco stores in Essex and Suffolk will be able to sample a
range of Essex made chutneys and pickles thanks to a new joint initiative
between Bromley’s Pickle Company and Tesco Stores.
Managing Director of
Bromley’s Pickle Company, Iain Wicks, said: “In May Tesco stores in Essex
and Suffolk began to stock varieties from our range of hand made chutneys
and pickles as part of a new partnership between our firm and the
supermarket.
“These Tesco stores are
now stocking four of our products - Classic Apple Chutney, Sticky Onion
Chutney, Tomato and Chilli Jam and Mustard Pickle - and we have chosen this
store for the first tasting session for Tesco shoppers in Essex because of
the high level of interest in our range at the store.
“Our tasting team will
be in a number of different stores from 10am until 4pm during the next month
and any shopper can come along and taste any of the four products their
local Tesco store is stocking so they can see for themselves the quality of
our product which is hand made here in Essex.”
The tasting sessions
are:
•Friday 01 August 2008
Tiptree
•Thursday 07 August
2008 Chelmsford
•Friday 08 August 2008
Harlow and
•Thursday 14 August

Tesco Marketing
Manager, Elizabeth Jackson, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for Tesco
shoppers to try one of the varieties stocked in their local store from such
a fantastic range of local chutneys.
“We are enjoying
working with such a wonderful small supplier for Tesco, this range of
pickles and chutneys compliment our existing range of East Anglian products
in store.”
Vineyard Fine Foods was
founded in 2004 and is a family run business which produces a range of more
than 20 different hand-made pickles and relishes from its premises in
Clacton-on-Sea.
The products are
carefully made in open pans, and cooked slowly over several hours. We source
many of our ingredients locally, and where this isn’t possible we use only
the best quality from elsewhere. No artificial additives are used and all
products are gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. A truly British
product, try them with cold meats and cheeses, pep up your sandwich, or stir
into a gravy to add a little zing!
