Farmers
and landowners in the East of England will be able to find out how to secure
the future of their land ownership at the Aylsham Agricultural Show on 25
August. Land Registry will be visiting the showground as part of a tour of
agriculture shows in England and Wales.
Land
Registry - the government department responsible for registering land
ownership in England and Wales - is currently encouraging landowners to
voluntarily register their land.
Land
Registry staff will be on hand at the event to discuss the benefits of
voluntary land registration and answer questions landowners may have.
Landowners who act now to register their land voluntarily can benefit from a
25 per cent discount on the registration fee.
Brian
Mahan of the Register Development Team for Norfolk, said: "Just 61 per cent
of the land in Norfolk is registered - one of the lowest levels in England
and Wales.
"Registration is relatively inexpensive and straightforward to carry out. It
clarifies land ownership and can formally identify who owns what."
State-backed registration gives landowners greater security of title,
providing them with better protection against claims of adverse possession.
Landowners also know the administration of their land holding is in good
order with key information in one place and easy to access.
The 62nd
Aylsham Show will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August at The
National Trust's Blickling Park, Norfolk. For more information about the
